The Mantis XP
was "one of the undoubted show stoppers at this years Festival
of Speed". After the huge success at
Prescott last summer and the interest generated, the Morris family received
an invitation from Lord March to bring the car over for the Goodwood
event. This was a unique opportunity to compete at one of the worlds foremost motoring
events in the UK.
The car was situated in
the Cathedral Paddock sandwiched between the Alan Mann Ford GT 40 and a Ferrari
365 GTB / 4 Daytona, and generated a huge amount of interest from motoring
enthusiasts from all walks of life. Ned ran the hill Friday, Saturday and Sunday
with only minor complications. He managed to get his time down to 64 seconds
over the 1.16 mile course bettering many of the more prestigious iconic
machinery.
Congratulations to Ned for
putting on such a good display, and many thanks for giving us all the pleasure
of seeing the car again.
Marcos
Heritage
– The home of Marcos cars past and present.
The Heritage operation is
the only source worldwide of genuine Marcos parts. Having secured the
assets of Marcos Sales Ltd back in 2001, we can offer the only complete
car care package for Marcos owners and enthusiasts. We own all of the
original moulds, tools and jigs, and can reproduce and manufacture any
parts for any Marcos dating back to 1959 (with a few exceptions). To the
other extreme, we can offer a service to build a one off car to the
original specification - be it a Mini Marcos or a Mantis.
Our aim is to keep all Marcos
cars on the road, to do this we intend to make the ownership experience unique and fulfilling, with full support and development for all models old and new.
We hold the
original build files on all cars built from 1964 to the present day,
these files are invaluable to the operation, holding build
specification, and any details of repairs and servicing carried out, and
more importantly any damage that could have occurred over the years.
From these files we can also establish original paint specification,
upholstery, carpet colours, and modifications etc…. which may be
useful to a new owner.
One of our main initiatives is to extend the range of parts by re-sourcing obsolete parts where demand is evident. Our most valuable asset in this field being an archive of all of the original drawings dating back to 1964, which enables parts to be produced to the original specification.
Based in Semington, Wiltshire, our experienced factory trained technicians carry out all service work, restorations, conversions, upgrades, repairs, and any other Marcos related work, backed up with the combined knowledge of over 40 years experience with Marcos Cars.
